The Hotelier Awards was established by The Hotelier Awards Limited and founded in 2017. The Hotelier Awards is located at Unit 1102, 11/F, 29 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong and represented by Co-Founders Benoit Thebaut and Stephane de Montgros (hereafter referred to as « Organising Company » or « Organiser»). The Hotelier Awards is a set of hotelier competitions namely «The Hotelier Awards Greater China» and «The Hotelier Awards Asia», «The APAC Corporate Hotelier Award» and «The Rising Star Award», etc.
The organisers have created The Hotelier Awards as a platform to celebrate the hard working professionals of the hospitality industry. The focus is to recognise their achievements and inspire younger generations to pursue career opportunities in the hospitality industry. These international competitions are an opportunity for hoteliers and hospitality students to promote their exemplary achievements in the following categories:
The Hotelier Awards Greater China
The Hotelier Awards Asia & South Asia:
3.1.1 Except for The Rising Star Award, the competition is open to employees (hereafter referred to as «Candidate») of all Hotel Groups / Hotel Chains / Independent Hotels / Franchised Hotels / Residence Hotels and Cruise Line crew members, who are currently employed in Greater China (Greater China competition includes Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan) or in Asia (Asia competition includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan & South Korea) or in South Asia(Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan & Sri Lanka).
The candidate must have held his or her position for a minimum of 9 months prior to the application deadline.
3.1.2 The Rising Star Award competition is open to all hospitality students from the top ten (10) selected Hospitality Schools across Asia. These candidates must be in their final year of study.

The application process is free of charge.
5.1.1 All applications, except those for The Rising Star Award, will be submitted to a minimum of five (5) of the hospitality industry’s most recognised professionals, appointed by The Hotelier Awards as the Judging Panel for the competitions. The applications are completed and presented to the Judging Panel online, through the official website, www.hotelierawards.com/www.hotelierawards.cn. Candidates must respond to all the questions in the application form in English. One high-resolution photo of the candidate and one high-resolution logo of the brand they are working for must be sent with the application form when applying.
5.1.2 All applications for The Rising Star Award will be submitted by the school’s faculty. The school’s faculty will select the top three (3) applications and nominate them to the Organising Company. The top three (3) applications from each Hospitality School will then be submitted to The Rising Star Judging Panel for review.

All candidates guarantee that the applications they submit contain no elements that are injurious, defamatory, counterfeit, xenophobic, homophobic, anti-semitic, defy good morals, etc.
Candidates must submit their application during the announced application period for the respective competitions. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
Participation in The Hotelier Awards competitions implies full acceptance of the present regulations with no reserve.
6.1 The public may attend the Award Ceremony by registering with the Organiser or online at www.hotelierawards.com/www.hotelierawards.cn up until and including the day of the Awards Ceremony. The rate to attend the ceremony is USD 255.00 per hotel or cruise line operator participant, USD 510.00 per non-hotel or cruise line operator participant. The hotel operator rate is applicable to anyone working in a hotel management company, hotel owning company or a cruise line. All other participants will fall under the non-hotel or cruise line operator participant category. As soon as the registration form is duly signed, payment must be received upon receipt of invoice by the Organiser. Payment may be made by bank transfer/ credit card/ UnionPay/ AliPay/ WeChat Pay. Registration is personal and non-refundable, however the attendee can be replaced by one of his or her colleagues.
6.1.1 The finalists of The Rising Star Award will be invited to attend the Awards Ceremony free of charge.
6.2 Due to limited seats, the Organising Company cannot guarantee that all requests will be accepted. Priority will be given to candidates and hotel operator participants. Both participants in the Awards Ceremony and candidates accept the unrestricted use of their full name, position, city of residence and photograph during the Awards Ceremony and for ten (10) years following their participation in the Awards Ceremony. Use of these details may be through both online and offline channels including but not limited to the Organising Company’s website, social media platforms, press releases, print media and online media. The materials in connection to The Hotelier Awards competitions will be accessible worldwide and for ten (10) years following the participation in the Award Ceremony, with no reference, payment or compensation.
7.1 The Judging Panel for The Hotelier Awards consists of a minimum of five (5) judges who are high profile professionals from several prestigious organisations that focus on the travel, publishing, education and digital industries, as well as, public service. The selection of both the finalists and the winners of each of the awards will be made by the judges.
The Organising Company reserves the right to withdraw one or more categories from the competition(s) if the number of candidates for this or these category(ies) is not sufficient. In this case the Organising Company will inform the relevant candidates of its decision to retract the category. Candidates that have submitted an application to the retracted category may be shifted to another category. The Judging Panel also reserves the right to move a candidate from one category to another if they agree that the application is more suited for an alternative category.
7.1.1 The Judging Panel will gather in March 2018 (for the Asia competition) and in July 2018 (for the Greater China competition) to select the finalists for The Hotelier Awards competitions, for the above mentioned categories (Article 2).
7.2 The Rising Star Judging Panel
The Rising Star Judging Panel for The Hotelier Awards consists of a minimum of five (5) expert hoteliers from several prestigious hotel brands. The selection of both the finalists and the winner of The Rising Star Award will be made by the judging panel.
7.3 The members of the Judging Panel and The Rising Star Judging Panel are selected only by the Organising Company and cannot be contested.
8.1 The determination of finalists and winners for the above mentioned categories under 7.1, follows a two-step process.
8.1.1 Round one: Selecting the finalists
The individual judges will review the applications and select their individual top five (5) candidates. The complete Judging Panel will then meet to examine the applications presented and reach a consensus on the top five (5) finalists in all The Hotelier Award categories for the competition.
Once the finalists have been decided by the Judging Panel, the Organising Company will officially announce the top five (5) candidates for each category and competition.
8.1.2 Round two: Telephone Interviews and Selection of the Winners
During the time period between the announcement of the finalists and the Awards Ceremony, the finalists in the above mentioned categories, excluding the candidates in the General Manager and Corporate Hotelier categories, will undertake a telephone interview with a representative from the Organising Company. This interview will be transcribed and shared to the Judging Panel. The telephone interviews may be conducted using the native language of the candidate.
The Judging Panel will then review the aforementioned transcriptions and decide the winners based on a scoring system (detailed in 8.3).
8.2 The determination of finalists and the winner for the above mentioned category under 7.2 (The Rising Star Award), follows a two-step process:
8.2.1 Round one: Selecting the finalists
Each judge on The Rising Star Judging Panel will review the applications and the finalists will be decided based on a scoring system (detailed in 8.3).
Once the finalists have been decided by The Rising Star Judging Panel, the Organising Company will officially announce the top five (5) candidates.
8.2.2 Round two: Telephone Interviews and selecting the winners
During the time period between the announcement of the finalists and the Award Ceremony, the finalists of The Rising Star Award will undertake a telephone interview with a representative from the Organising Company. This interview will be transcribed and shared to The Rising Star Judging Panel. The telephone interviews must be conducted in English language.
The Rising Star Judging Panel will then review the aforementioned transcriptions and decide the winner based on a scoring system (detailed in 8.3).
8.3 Scoring system
Scoring will be carried out as follows:
Each member of the Judging Panel and the Rising Star Judging Panel will have 6 points in total, they may attribute one (1), two (2), three (3), four (4), five (5) or six (6) points to one or more finalists as long as the sum of total points attributed from each judge adds up to six (6) points.
The sum of these points will establish the final winner of each category for each competition, the winner being the finalist that accumulates the most points.
In case of a draw for first (1st) place, the finalist whom receives points from the most judges will be chosen as the winner. In case the two finalists have points from the same number of judges votes, the Judging Panel or The Rising Star Judging Panel will proceed to another vote to decide between the two finalists.
For the “General Manager” and “Corporate Hotelier” categories, the finalists in each of the competitions will undertake a face-to-face interview with the complete Judging Panel on the day of the respective award ceremonies. The winner of this category for each competition will be chosen by the Judging Panel on the day of the respective Award Ceremonies. If a finalist for the General Manager category or the Corporate Hotelier category cannot attend the face-to-face interview, they will be removed from the competition and will not be able to win the award. The winners will be determined through the same “Scoring system” detailed above. All the point scores will be tallied and the winners for both competitions will be determined.
For all the categories above, the results will not be discussed and will be final.
9.1 The winner of each category across both competitions will be presented with a trophy. This prize has no monetary value.
9.1.1 Internship program – The winner of The Rising Star Award will be granted an internship program at one of the top five-star hotels worldwide.
9.2 The finalists for each category for both competitions will be presented with a certificate. This certificate has no monetary value.
Candidates and participants of the Awards Ceremony authorise the verification of their identity by the Organising Company and all information on the application form. Submissions that are incomplete and/or provide incomplete or false contact information will not be taken into consideration and will result in the candidate being eliminated from the competitions.
In the event of a candidate changing property during the judging process, the property in which the candidate was employed by at the time of application will decide if the candidate can move forward in the competition or if they should be withdrawn from the competition.
The Organising Company will not be held responsible in any way should it be forced to cancel the Awards Ceremony, due to force majeure or events beyond its control. Moreover, it reserves the right, within legal limits, to extend or shorten the candidate deadlines or change conditions. Additions and modifications to these regulations may be made. They will be considered as amendments to the present rules.
Personal data of participants and candidates in the competitions will be collected and handled electronically for the sole purpose of the organisation of the Awards Ceremony. Each participant and each candidate may exercise their right to access, rectify or remove data concerning them by sending their request by email to the Organising Company.
